Fonda San Miguel raises funds for Emancipet to honor late Chef Miguel Ravago

Austin’s award-winning Fonda San Miguel is honoring its late chef and co-founder Miguel Ravago, who passed away earlier this year, with a giving campaign benefiting Emancipet, the non-profit on a mission to make high-quality, low-cost veterinary care accessible for all pet owners.

In addition to being an influential leader of Austin’s culinary scene, Ravago was also a big animal lover. Fonda San Miguel is inviting people to make a special gift to Emancipet in his honor at epet.convio.net/ChefRavago and will also honor Ravago with a plaque on the donor wall of Emancipet’s new soon-to-open Central Austin clinic.

Tom Gilliland, co-founder and owner of Fonda San Miguel, says: “We’ve loved supporting and continuing to support Emancipet. Their low cost, wonderful services for our furry friends have brought comfort and joy to so many, and we’re excited to be hosting this fundraiser to help Emancipet grow and provide even more services through their new clinic.”

The plaque at the new clinic will read “In Memory of Chef Miguel Ravago of Fonda San Miguel.” (Emancipet’s new Central Austin clinic will be located in the Norwood Plaza Shopping Center and is expected to open this fall.)

Emancipet will also be the beneficiary of an elegant dinner and reception at Fonda San Miguel, 2330 W. North Loop Blvd., on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 6- 9 p.m. Hosted by Jamie Barshop and Carol Adams, all proceeds from the “Fiesta at Fonda San Miguel” will benefit Emancipet.

The evening will include dinner from Fonda San Miguel’s renowned buffet, a raffle, cocktail reception with complimentary Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails, and silent auction.

The Fiesta Raffle will offer the chance to win one of four fabulous prize packages, each valued at $1,000 or more. Entrants do not need to be present to win, and raffle tickets are $20 each or $100 for six. To view a list of the raffle packages and/or purchase raffle tickets, visit emancipet.org/events/fiesta.
