Recap of Mueller Happy Hour at Elaine’s at Eastside Cafe

After a week of nonstop rain, the clouds finally parted and gave way to sunshine— just in time for the Mueller happy hour on the outdoor patio of Elaine’s at Eastside Cafe.

About 60 Mueller residents came to the meet up on April 22. Some rode their bikes from the neighborhood, and others stopped by on their way home from work. Neighbors mingled and got to know one another while enjoying drink specials, the beautiful scenery of the backyard garden, and free appetizers including shrimp ceviche and vegetable taquitos.

Eastside Cafe has been one of Austin’s most beloved restaurants for more than 28 years. Housed in an East Austin bungalow on Manor Road, Eastside Cafe serves American comfort food and seasonal dishes using vegetables and herbs from its own garden. Many items are vegetarian-friendly, and there is also a gluten-free menu.

Just next door on the property of Eastside Cafe is Elaine’s, named for Eastside’s founder and owner. Elaine’s opened in 2012 and is famous for its delicious homemade single-serving pies, slow-roasted pulled pork sandwiches and tacos, frozen lemonade, happy hour specials, and gourmet coffee drinks.

An urban oasis in the heart of Cherrywood’s bustling restaurant row on Manor Road, the garden on Eastside’s property has always been a major attraction for locals and tourists alike. Edible flowers from the garden garnish dishes and drinks year-round, and seasonal greens and vegetables from the garden become soups, salads, side dishes, and seasonal entree specials when they’re available.

Nearly everything at Eastside Cafe and Elaine’s is made from scratch. For more information, the hours of operation, and full menus, go to www.elainesaustin.com and www.eastsidecafeaustin.com.
