Free solar energy-focused community event at Ballroom Marfa, Aug. 4

Ballroom Marfa, in collaboration with the Judd Foundation and Marfa Solar System, will host Freedom Solar Power for a “Marfa Solar Social” on Friday, Aug. 4, 6- 8 p.m. Freedom Solar will speak on the benefits of renewable energy, regional solar rebates and solar power technology, and the evening will also feature complimentary refreshments from Big Bend Brewing Co., tacos by Vicente Celis, and a raffle with a chance to win two solar backpacks and other prizes. Emancipet offering low-cost heartworm treatment at Central Austin and Houston locations

Heartworm treatment costing 50-70 percent less than the national average of $1,000 is now available at Emancipet Central Austin and will be available at Emancipet Houston beginning in July. The typical cost of heartworm treatment is not affordable for all pet owners, sometimes resulting in pets turned in to shelters or not surviving the disease. Emancipet’s pricing ranges from $225-$495 depending on the size of the dog, and can be split into two payments. Read more
