Jurassic Car Wash offers public service members free washes on second Tuesdays of each month

Free washes for police Jan. 10, firefighters Feb. 14, teachers March 14

Jurassic Car Wash, an animatronic dinosaur-themed premium automatic and self-service car wash in the heart of South Austin is inviting different groups of public service members to receive a free car wash on the second Tuesday of every month throughout 2017.

WHERE: Jurassic Car Wash, 4809 South Congress Avenue

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. The schedule of people who will be offered free washes in the upcoming months is:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 10: Police officers (police ID required)
  • Tuesday, Feb. 14: Firefighters (firefighter ID required)
  • Tuesday, March 14: Teachers (school ID required)

*In the event of inclement weather, the free wash day will be postponed until the following week and held on the third Tuesday of the month.

WHY:

To celebrate Austin’s public servants for their dedication to our community, Jurassic Car Wash will offer free washes each month.

Owner of Jurassic Car Wash and longtime Austin entrepreneur John Borek also has a soft spot for local charities, taking his authentic Batmobile to meet children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation and events such as the CASA Superhero Run and Austin Sunshine Run. Borek set out to make his car wash “unique and fun with a dash of Austin weird” and in true fashion, he will take his Batmobile to the car wash on the free days to greet and thank Austin’s public servants for a few hours.

HOW:

Public service members will need to provide a valid form of identification to prove their eligibility. Jurassic Car Wash will have extra employees on-site to check IDs, help guests enter their free wash codes, and guide traffic flow through the automatic wash.

Eligible public service members will get a free automatic Deluxe Wash (normally $8), which includes undercarriage wash, super foam brush, double super soap scrub, clear coat protectant, spot free rinse, and high-powered air dry.

VISUALS:

Austin Police Department officials and vehicles; owner John Borek with his authentic Batmobile handing out T-shirts and greeting police; a giant T-Rex that squirts water on cars as they enter the tunnel; two animatronic dinosaurs that come alive and make noise every half hour: a pterodactyl on the roof and a dilophosaurus on the front of the building; three large dinos in the back of the premises: a T-Rex, Styracosaurs, and hatching Velociraptors; muddy T-Rex footprints painted on the concrete lot; and more.
