Emancipet’s state-of-the-art Central Austin clinic, which opened its doors earlier this year at 1030 Norwood Park Blvd., is featured in the July 2018 issue of Interior Design.

Designed by Perkins + Will, Emancipet’s new 3,900-square-foot clinic was the nonprofit’s first purpose-built clinic. It’s the largest, most efficient, and offers the most amenities for Emancipet’s clients and will serve as a model for all new clinics going forward. Read more

Brown Distributing Company teamed up with Freedom Solar Power to install a massive 481-kilowatt roof-mount system on its facility, making Brown the first beverage distribution company in Texas to “go green” with solar panels.

Comprised of 1,458 high-efficiency SunPower® panels, Brown Distributing’s new solar array will pay for itself within four and a half years, save the company nearly $2 million over the next 25 years, and slash utility bills by an average of $4,300 per month. Read more

Emancipet performs 750 free spay/neuter surgeries in Puerto Rico

Emancipet, the national nonprofit organization that makes high-quality, low-cost veterinary care accessible to all, is part of a historic initiative to spay and neuter more than 20,000 pets in Puerto Rico, where an estimated 300,000 pets are homeless following Hurricane Maria.

A team of 15 Emancipet veterinarians and staff including CEO Amy Mills traveled to Puerto Rico and performed 750 free spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations for pets and their families earlier this month, and will return Nov. 3-9 to do more. Read more

Emancipet part of historic coalition to help pets in Puerto Rico

Emancipet is one of six organizations leading the surgical work in a historic initiative to spay/neuter and vaccinate more than 20,000 dogs and cats in Puerto Rico, which is still struggling to recover more than six months after the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

A team of 16 Emancipet veterinarians and staff, including Emancipet CEO Amy Mills, deployed to Puerto Rico June 3-9 for the first of what will be four trips included in “Spayathon for Puerto Rico,” developed by the Humane Society of the United States. Emancipet is the surgical provider for the Manati sector of the island, and the organization performed 750 spay/neuter surgeries during their first trip, surpassing their goal by 250 surgeries!  Read more

Freedom Solar powers Marfa’s newest iconic art installation

Client Freedom Solar Power installed solar panels on Marfa’s newest iconic art installation, Stone Circle, by Ballroom Marfa— creator of the popular Prada Marfa installation. Eight stones are situated in a circle — hence the name — and are equipped with speakers and LED lights. The ambitious new public art installation features black marble boulders that emit patterns of sound and light from energy generated by the solar panels.

Freedom Solar steers Austin Subaru dealership into fast lane of sustainability

Freedom Solar Power recently installed a massive 241.2-kilowatt rooftop solar array at Austin Subaru that will drive down its operating costs and put the pedal to the metal on the dealership’s sustainability and energy efficiency. No puns intended.

The new solar array will offset 75 percent of the dealership’s energy needs, reduce the cost of its average monthly utility bill from roughly $3,000 to roughly $1,000, pay for itself within five years, and save the company more than $857,000 over the next 25 years. Read more
